1996–2000

Foundations & First Steps

Castle was co‑founded by Sandy Lish and Wendy Spivak in 1996, leading a small but ambitious team. From shared office space to early PR and event management clients, those first years were about building our credibility and agency identity.

By the turn of the millennium, we launched our internship program, which has nurtured hundreds of aspiring communications professionals over the decades—and continues today. During these foundational years, Castle proved we could endure and grow, building an impressive client roster and cultivating a strong agency culture.

2001-2005

Growth & Recognition

Despite national challenges such as 9/11 and the dot‑com bubble, Castle continued to grow its client base across key industries. WBENC certification affirmed our identity as a women‑owned business, and a move to Tremont Street in Boston’s Government Center marked a new chapter in our history. During this time, we also earned our first Boston Business Journal Best Places to Work award.

2006–2010

Building Momentum

This chapter is marked by steady expansion, new services, growing influence—and a move to the Charlestown Navy Yard. As Castle strengthened its reputation for long-term client partnerships, our services grew alongside our clients, expanding from our roots in public relations and event management to meet new moments and new challenges that would define Castle’s continued legacy.

2011–2015

New Brand & New Horizons

Castle celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2011 with a refreshed brand. By 2015, the opening of the Atlanta office and the establishment of crisis communications as a core service marked another pivotal moment in the firm’s evolution. That same year, Castle held its first employee retreat, strengthening the company values that would shape the next decade.

2016–2020

Culture, Awards & Resilience

Castle’s 20th anniversary marked bold milestones: a mayoral proclamation from the City of Boston, the launch of our Maui office, the addition of a sabbatical program, and the formal formation of the Castle Culture Committee.

This chapter also brought widespread acclaim as our reputation for excellence grew nationally and internationally. And when the pandemic demanded reinvention, Castle rose to the challenge. Virtual events, healthcare panels, and DEI certification showcased not only our adaptability but also our deep commitment to community—long a cornerstone of our company that shows up beyond client work.

2021–2025

Legacy & Leadership

Castle’s 25th anniversary was a moment of pride, marked by honors that reflected our growing influence. The years that followed emphasized sustainability and innovation, with awards and accreditations validating our commitment to excellence, progress, and industry leadership. These achievements reinforced credibility, accountability, and a promise to clients that excellence is embedded in every facet of our work.

Castle also enhanced its benefits package further with a Work Away Program, offering employees the freedom to work globally while reinforcing its forward‑thinking culture and commitment to career and personal growth.

And by 2025, Castle reached another pinnacle—its most award‑winning year yet, securing its place among the nation’s top PR and event management firms.
