OPPORTUNITY

The Castle Group is seeking an Assistant Account Executive or Account Executive to join our smart, creative and passionate team of communications professionals.

YOUR ROLE

Media Relations

  • Reads and follows key media to understand beats and coverage opportunities
  • Contributes to account teams by generating story topics and ideas 
  • Supports team in securing coverage in target media markets and outlets
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with journalists 
  • Demonstrates a track record of successful media placements 
  • Monitors media mentions and trends; supporting Castle’s proactive and rapid-response approach to public relations
  • Demonstrates a high level of curiosity about clients across multiple industries
  • Maintains an up-to-date understanding of Boston’s national profile and its local and regional industries, while understanding regional and national context

Client Management

  • Manages client projects and programs with supervision from a senior team member (SAE, AD, VP, SVP, or AVP, depending on account size)
  • Delivers top-quality work to account teams and clients, including releases, pitches, reports and memos
  • Proactively communicates with account teams and keeps clients informed about ideas, initiatives, and project updates
  • Works with account teams to monitor, identify and share client news with context
  • Effectively supports and maintains successful client relationships

Writing

  • Writes strong emails, press releases, briefing documents, backgrounders and media analyses with minimal editing needed
  • Has experience or a strong interest in identifying opportunities for thought leadership, op-eds and other submitted content
  • Possesses the ability to learn and effectively use client-owned messaging in media outreach
  • Manages multiple streams of communication effectively across account teams and clients
  • Writes clear, concise and accurate communications under deadline
  • Responds to team and client communications in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates good judgment in all written client communications

Social Media

As an agency offering integrated services to our clients, all members of the team are expected to support our dedicated social media team. Candidates with experience assisting with paid social media and influencer campaigns, a plus.

  • Possesses a strong understanding of and curiosity about the social media landscape, including platforms, trends, and metrics
  • Demonstrates an interest and ability in creating content for multiple social media channels
  • Has experience using relevant tools for social media management and reporting/analytics

Internal Responsibilities 

  • Project manages client programs with supervision from account leads
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and dedication to advancing the work process efficiently 
  • Possesses a proven ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills and attention to detail       
  • Actively supports the agency’s inclusion goals and programs
  • Participates in and supports a positive agency culture
  • Maintains and submits hourly timesheets daily, totaling 40 hours weekly
  • Represents agency with professionalism and enthusiasm at external events
  • Builds other organizational relationships of benefit to agency and/or clients

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Between 2 – 5 years of communications experience
  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in public relations, communications, journalism, business or other related field of study
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); SharePoint and OneDrive experience a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a background in AP-style writing
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with monitoring, measurement and media contact software
  • A desire to learn and grow as a communications professional

Salary Ranges:

  • Assistant Account Executive: $55,000–$62,000
  • Account Executive: $63,000–$74,000
