An Event Planner’s Three Tips to Make the Most of Outdoor Events (Go Sox!)

Tomorrow’s 2018 Red Sox World Series victory parade got me thinking about the necessities I keep in mind when preparing for a parade or any outdoor event. While I won’t be in Boston to celebrate, I thought I would share my top three tips for attending an al fresco event!

If you are lucky enough to secure one of those prime locations in Boston that allows you to view and enjoy the parade from indoors, then you’re set. These packing tips are for those who will take to the streets tomorrow morning:

1. Dress in layers – Despite tomorrow’s mostly sunny forecast with a high of 56 degrees, you can’t guarantee you’ll be standing in a sunny spot. It may seem silly while you’re bundled up on the T, or in your car, but you’ll be happy to have that extra layer after a few outdoor hours.

2. Pack a portable charger – Extreme temperature can affect your phone’s battery life (for more info click here). Be sure to keep it warm, but also bring along a portable charger. You don’t want to miss the perfect Instagram shot of your favorite player!

3. Pack a snack – This is truly one of the statements I live by — a must-have item on any travel, trip or outdoor adventure packing list. Depending where you are on the parade route, the wait may be longer than expected and keeping your blood sugar up can help your mood stay up as well.

Oh and this isn’t an official recommendation but a selfie stick can’t hurt ;). Enjoy the parade!
